SXSW 2023

A 37ª edição do SXSW vai se aproximando e a organização revela mais speakers que prometem lotar as grandes salas de conferência do Centro de Convenções de Austin e de outros espaços distribuídos pela cidade. Em seu mais recente anúncio de novidades, o evento – que acontece entre os dias 10 e 19 de março – apresentou nomes do cinema, da música e da tecnologia.

Se no início de janeiro um dos destaques da programação parcialmente revelada foram cientistas ligadas ao telescópio espacial James Webb (reveja aqui), desta vez entre os palestrantes anunciados estão estrelas do entretenimento. Uma das atrações é a cultuada atriz inglesa Tilda Swinton, dona de um Oscar como atriz coadjuvante em 2018 (“Michael Clayton”), e o ator norte-americano Robert Downey Jr, que ficou popularmente conhecido como Homem de Ferro, do Universo Marvel.

Tilda estará em painel com Eugene Hernandez, diretor de Sundance Film Festival, no dia 13, em um debate sobre cinema. Downey Jr, por sua vez, participará de uma mesa que vai discutir cibercrimes, que estão crescendo assustadoramente nos EUA – no ano passado, a população perdeu quase US$ 7 bilhões em crimes online. No painel, que será no dia 11, estarão o CEO da Aura, Hari Ravichandran, o especialista em cibersegurança e ex-agente do FBI Eric O’Neill e a escritora Maria Konnikova.

Pelo lado da música, alguns dos integrantes da banda oitentista New Order vão se reunir em um papo com o crítico de rock & pop Will Hodgkinson, no dia 13, uma segunda-feira. Vale observar que um dos hits do grupo, “Blue Monday”, foi lançado em 1983 como single, completando neste ano 4 décadas. Vendeu mais de três milhões de cópias mundialmente. No palco estarão o vocalista e guitarrista Bernard Summer, o baterista Stephen Morris e sua mulher, a tecladista Gillian Gilbert.

Para tentar encaixar na agenda também há o painel do ator e comediante John Leguizamo, no dia 14, que irá falar da influência e das contribuições inconfundíveis dos latinos nos EUA. Quem não viu o especial dele na Netflix, “América Latina para imbecis”, tem tempo de conferir o conteúdo até lá. Leguizamo, que nasceu na Colômbia, estará acompanhado do âncora da NBC News Tom Llamas, do diretor Ben DeJesus, do NGL Studios, e da showrunner Carolina Saavedra, da MSNBC Films e NBC News Studios.

Na área de tecnologia, um dos painéis que deve mobilizar muita gente é o do presidente e cofundador da OpenAI (do ChatGPT e Dall-E), Greg Brockman, que estará em uma sessão com a CEO do Dot Dot Dot Media Laurie Segall, no dia 10 de março.

Outra empresa capaz de atrair atenções é a Netflix, que vai enviar o presidente mundial de publicidade, Jeremi Gorman, em um debate com Conny Braams, Chief Digital & Commercial Officer da Unilever, Michael Kassan, fundador e CEO do MediaLink, e Tim Mapes, vice-presidente sênior e Chief Marketing and Communications Officer da Delta Air Lines, no painel “A New School of Leaders Transforming the Marketing Experience", marcado para o dia 14.

Já tinham sido anunciados previamente: Ryan Gellert (CEO da Patagonia), Eva Longoria (atriz, diretora, ativista), RZA (rapper, compositor, diretor e produtor musical), Cheryl Strayed (autora do livro “Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail”), Everette Taylor (CEO do Kickstarter) e Jen Wong (COO do Reddit).
